Resource Materials

In order to assist organizations with organizing community activities and media outreach around the broadcast, P.O.V. distributed companion resource materials, including a discussion guide for people working on issues related to globalization, government agencies and utility providers, environmental groups, human rights groups and community stakeholders. In addition, P.O.V. produced a companion Web site for the film — www.pbs.org/pov/pov2004/thirst — which featured a debate on the merits of water privatization between Peter Cook, executive director of the National Association of Water Companies, and Maude Barlow and Sara Ehrhardt, anti-privatization activists with the Council of Canadians, hosted by I magazine, as well as character updates, a filmmaker interview, links to resources and a discussion board. P.O.V. also worked with Environmental Science instructor Terri Carta to create a lesson plan and the American Library Association to create a multimedia resource list of related fiction and nonfiction books, Web sites and videos. These materials are available free-of-charge online at www.pbs.org/pov.
