In order to assist organizations with organizing community activities and media outreach around the broadcast, P.O.V. distributed companion resource materials, including a discussion guide for corrections officials, social service providers and civic groups. In addition, P.O.V. produced a companion Web site for the film — www.pbs.org/pov/pov2003/whatiwant — which featured a roundtable discussion with prison reformers, victims' advocates and criminal justice policy advisors to think about the role of prison in American society, as well as character updates, a filmmaker interview, links to resources and a discussion board. P.O.V. also worked with educational media consultant Dr. Faith Rogow to create a lesson plan and the American Library Association to create a multimedia resource list of related fiction and nonfiction books, Web sites and videos. These materials are available free-of-charge online at www.pbs.org/pov.
