In Depth: True Lives

American Documentary introduces a new programming initiative, featuring classics from the P.O.V. archives and beyond.

Launched in 2005, True Lives revisits classic documentaries from the award-winning P.O.V. series, as well as other films that have not aired on P.O.V. Films are packaged into themed collections for broadcast by public television stations, including PDP stations.

A Healthy Baby Girl by Judith Helfand

The Peabody Award-winning film A Healthy Baby Girl airs as part of the 2005 True Lives series.

True Lives has featured such outstanding films as Academy Award winner Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision by Freida Lee Mock, Emmy Award winner Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter by Deborah Hoffman and Peabody Award winner A Healthy Baby Girl by Judith Helfand. In 2006, the series presented the public television premiere of the Academy Award winning film Breathing Lessons by Jessica Yu.

True Lives furthers the efforts of American Documentary to make important evergreen documentary films available to the public through local public television stations, while ensuring ongoing support for the independent media field.
