Happy Winter Filmmaker: Giovanni Totaro. (Film length: 50 min.) Here comes a delightfully oddball-ish little film. When every summer on Palermo’s Mondello Beach, more than 1,000 teeny huts go up. (Each custom decorated and outfitted by their owners.) And so the summer community of beach dwellers begins. They sleep and eat there. Play cards. Discuss politics. Gossip. And of course, do beach-y things. Have never seen anything like it. And yet it happens in Palermo every year.
