Central European Documentary Coproduction Market
May 31 - June 7 | Krakow, Poland
Carmen Vicencio will attend the 12th annual CEDOC Market in Poland. This annual event is held during the Krakow Film Festival and is designed to build upon its Central European location to nurture cooperation between East and West, North and South with a special focus on Central European projects and talents. This is a key industry event to network with the international film community, discover emerging talents, attend workshops and pitch sessions. Since 2015, this event has been an essential part of the DOC LAB POLAND and KFF INDUSTRY programming.

OPEN DOORS NYC Summer BBQ
June 5 | New York, New York
Asad Muhammad and Robert Salyer will join residents at Coler Rehabilitation Center on Roosevelt Island for their annual OPEN DOORS NYC Summer BBQ to celebrate 10 years of disability and racial justice. This milestone event honors the lives and experiences of the residents of Coler, paying respects to the workers, friends and community members. Coler was the site of Fire Through Dry Grass (POV Season 36) where a group of young disabled artists documented their lives during the lockdown during Covid; co-directed by Andres “Jay” Molina and Alexis Neophytides.

For Vendia, For Kalief & The People's Forum Present: Dreaming Beyond Rikers
June 6 | New York, New York
Asad Muhammad and Robert Salyer will attend For Vendia, For Kalief & The People's Forum Present: Dreaming Beyond Rikers at The People's Forum for an afternoon screening of Sisa Bueno’s film For Venida, For Kalief, followed by a workshop and panel that looks at the long-term impact of Rikers Island, the movement to transform the facility into a renewable energy center and what comes with the promise of its closure. The community event also features grounding activities, poetry performances and an open mic.

Union Docs
June 5 - 7 | Queens, New York
Robert Salyer will lead a workshop in Union Docs’ Documentary Fundamentals 2026: Emergent City as part of their annual six session professional development series that responds to ongoing changes in the field. This year’s session is organized by Kelly Anderson and Jay Arthur Sterrenberg, co-directors of Emergent City (POV Season 38) and will use their film as a case study model for emerging and mid-career independent filmmakers to gain an understanding of the practicalities involved in nonfiction filmmaking. The course covers all the work that comes before, during and after production – including pre-production planning, development, financing, festivals, distribution, audience building and exhibition. Robert will lead Session 6 (festival strategy, distribution & impact) on Sunday, June 7, 4pm - 5:30pm.

Tribeca Film Festival

Several AmDoc staffers will be in attendance at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, including Chris White and Erika Dilday.
Erika will participate on the panel Who Gets the Camera? New Voices in Documentary from Inside Institutions, part of the Tribeca Storytelling Summit.
Presented by American Documentary, Who Gets the Camera? takes place on Saturday, June 6, from 2pm - 3pm. Erika will be in conversation with storytelling and nonfiction industry notables including Thomas Allen Harris (president, Family Pictures Institute for Inclusive Storytelling) and Rahsaan “New York” Thomas (co-creator of the San Quentin Film Festival) to discuss the growing shift in nonfiction storytelling as incarcerated filmmakers and creators within historically closed systems reclaim authorship over their own narratives.

DC/DOX Film Festival
June 11 - 14 | Washington, D.C.
Erika Dilday heads to the nation’s capital to attend the fourth edition of DC/DOX. Over its short time, the film festival has quickly become a go-to international documentary film festival to see recent work that elevates storytelling to a new level. This gathering brings together film industry leaders, journalists and filmmakers to explore bold non-fiction cinema.
On Saturday June 13, from 3:45pm - 5pm American Documentary will host Beyond the Film: Building the Documentary Ecosystem, a conversation featuring Erika Dilday and other documentary leaders as they explore ways in which the nonfiction field can build a more sustainable future through collaboration.

Edinburgh Pitch

Opal H. Bennett will attend the Edinburgh Pitch, an international documentary pitching forum for independent filmmakers and productions companies developing urgent, challenging, engaging authored feature films at any stage. Part of the Scottish Documentary Institute, the 20th edition will welcome industry decision makers and emerging filmmakers for a daylong event featuring pitches, networking and discovery.

Sheffield Doc/Fest
June 8- June 10 | Sheffield, England
Opal H. Bennett will continue on to the Sheffield Doc/Fest, UK’s leading documentary festival. Each June the festival welcomes an international audience of industry leaders, filmmakers and an enthusiastic audience. Now in its 33rd year, the festival’s expansive programming champions and presents a wide range of documentary form, including film, television, podcasts and immersive art.

Docs Ireland
June 16 - 21 | Belfast, Ireland
Opal H. Bennett will attend the Docs Ireland, Ireland’s premiere documentary festival. Established in 2019 as the sister festival of the long-standing Belfast Film Festival, Docs Ireland celebrates the best of new international documentary filmmaking, and showcases the work of Ireland’s indigenous non-fiction culture and creatives. The programming and related industry events mark their initiative for cross-border collaboration, international co-productions, sales, distribution and new talent discovery.

Frameline Festival

Gina Basso will attend the Frameline, the longest-running, largest, and most widely recognized queer film exhibition in the world. Founded in 1977, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival, hosted by Frameline, cements its place in film festival history as they celebrate five decades of queer media at Frameline50. A dynamic showcase of film screenings, including parties, networking events, and industry panels at venues across San Francisco and Oakland.

Erika Dilday will attend the 21st annual DocEdge New Zealand, the premiere Asia Pacific festival hub for all things documentary. A unique hybrid festival experience that programs in person screenings across the country including cities such as Wellington and Auckland and a nationwide Virtual Cinema. The Doc Edge Industry convening brings together filmmakers, producers, funders, buyers, distributors, and decision makers for forums, pitch sessions and offers curated space to connect filmmakers, festival programmers and buyers.
