NorCal Short Film Festival
February 27-March 1 | Folsom, CA
Gina Basso will attend the inaugural NorCal Short Film Festival to sample their short form documentary programming and take in their narrative and experimental work that highlights the creativity of Northern California and beyond. This new event honoring storytellers is a promising addition to the global network of film festivals that are small in stature yet offer a dynamic slate of programming and experiences.

Australian International Documentary Conference
March 2-5 | Melbourne, Australia
Erika Dilday will head down under to attend AIDC, Australia’s premier event for documentary and nonfiction storytelling. Since 1987 AIDC has platformed conversations, workshops and events around film projects, awards, industry and professional development. While there, Erika will participate in four sessions: as moderator for Inverting Surveillance: Geeta Gandbhir and The Perfect Neighbor; as a panelist speaking about the future of public media in Crossing Channels: Collaborations in Broadcast and in Stories Without Borders: Meet the International Decision Makers at AIDC, a conversation on what’s on the documentary horizon; and she’ll host a screening and talkback with with POV Shorts filmmakers past and present whose work will be presented during the program Hold True: Short Films Curated by POV.

True/False Film Fest

Robert Chang heads to the Midwest to attend True/False, one of the country’s most beloved film festivals with international appeal. Each year film industry and film fans alike descend upon this college town to celebrate nonfiction films and creative artistry. T/F’s dynamic programming showcases some of the best in new short form, feature length nonfiction films that have gone on to earn industry accolades and even a spot on POV.

Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival
March 5-15 | Thessaloniki, Greece
Carmen Vicencio will attend the 28th annual Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival to catch documentaries and nonfiction film programs that focus on socially conscious themes covering the environment, human rights, politics and culture. The festival is a vital meeting point for filmmakers, programmers and industry peers to share thought-provoking and enriching cinematic experiences and events. There she'll explore tributes to documentary trailblazers, see new films in competition and projects in development.

Athena Film Festival
March 6-8 | NY, NY
Kerry LeVielle and Cayla Clements will attend the 15th iteration of the Athena Film Festival. AFF champions women-center filmmaking and stories as well as challenges long held views of leadership. Their annual showcase features a powerful slate of narrative, short, and documentary films alongside panels and conversations that investigate the intersections of gender, power, culture and society.

SXSW
March 12-18 | Austin, TX
Opal H. Bennett returns to the storied SXSW, an essential destination for documentary film screenings, professional development opportunities, special events and networking for the indie film industry. SXSW converges mediums, practices and unites audiences and is known for its dynamic programming of speakers, music, comedy and the latest in commercial entertainment in addition to its established documentary and nonfiction film platform.

CPH DOX
March 16-19 | Copenhagen, Denmark
Carmen Vicencio and Chris White will attend the annual CPH DOX which, since its inception in 2003, has become one of the biggest international documentary film festivals in the world dedicated to supporting and promoting documentary film as an art form and as a multifaceted medium that conveys knowledge and inspires reflection and democratic dialogue. Together they will take in their slate of new doc programming, catch up with industry peers and get connected with new ones while attending talks, events and discussions on the new projects and future perspectives unfolding in the doc field .

East Doc Platform
March 23-25 | Prague, Czech Republic
Chris White will continue on to one of the world’s most cinematic cities, known as the “City of a Hundred Spires”, Prague is the home base for the East Doc Platform, the largest co-production, funding, and distribution event specifically designed for documentary projects from Central and Eastern Europe. This annual event connects Eastern European documentary filmmakers with key international industry professionals — including producers, broadcasters, distributors, and festival programmers. Its programming includes screenings, conversations, lectures as well as industry activities such as a marketplace for completed films and rough cuts.
