Shaena Mallett is an award-winning documentary storyteller, teacher, farmer, and mother. She grew up between the Rust Belt and Amish country on a small family homestead, spending summers in the Allegheny Mountains of northern Appalachia. She is a granddaughter of farmers, coal miners, fur trappers, and bakers. Growing up, her heroes tended to be of the tenacious rural variety.
