Sierra Pettengill

Director

Sierra Pettengill is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and archivist. The Reagan Show, an all-archival documentary which she co-directed and produced, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and the Locarno Film Festival, and broadcast on CNN in 2017. Her short, Graven Image, which premiered at the 2018 True/False Film Festival, is also featured in the Equal Justice Initiative’s new Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. She is the producer of the Academy Award-nominated documentary Cutie and the Boxer, which also won a News & Doc Emmy Award for Best Documentary. Town Hall, her feature-length documentary co-directed with Jamila Wignot, broadcast nationally on PBS in 2014. Amongst many others, she was the archivist on Jim Jarmusch's Gimme Danger, Mike Mills' 20th Century Women, and Matt Wolf’s Teenage. Her writing has appeared in Film Comment and frieze magazine, and she is currently a 2017/2018 Sundance Art of Nonfiction Fellow.
