La Casa de Mama Icha: Lesson Plan Film Clips

Film Clips

In this clip we observe Mama Icha and her family having a discussion about the reasons as to why she should stay in their home in Philly, instead of going to Colombia. To try to convince her, they express to her the meaning of home.

Clip 2: Saying Goodbye

Here we can see how hard it is for both Mama Icha and her family to say goodbye to each other. Mama Icha spends her last night at her home in Philadelphia and packs her bags for her big trip.

Clip 3: I Didn’t Expect You to Betray Me

This clip shows the reality that Mama Icha had to face when she went back to her home after so many years of being outside. Nothing was as she was expecting to find it and the people who she trusted to take care of her home didn’t seem to have a good reason for it.

Clip 4: The Love for Your Homeland

In this emotional clip, Mama Icha goes back in time and explains with her own words what her land means to her and why she feels how she feels about her home in Mompox.

Clip 5: I Am Still Alive

Here we can see the conflict that Mama Icha is having with trying to keep what belongs to her away, even from her own family. In the phone conversation with her son’s lawyer she explains the reasons as to why she doesn’t owe anything to anyone.
